Ah, my dear, this Drumstick Pickle (Munagakaya Avakaya) is one of those forgotten treasures from our Andhra kitchens! Made with tender drumstick pieces, red chilli powder, mustard seeds, garlic, tamarind, and gingelly oil — it’s spicy, tangy, and full of homely goodness.

In the old days, we plucked fresh drumsticks from the backyard tree, cut them carefully, and sun-dried them before mixing with our freshly ground spices. The whole house would fill with that mouthwatering aroma! A spoonful with hot rice and ghee or curd rice was enough to make any meal special.
