Aho, my dear, this Dosavakaya Pickle is the heart and pride of Andhra pickles! Made with tender yellow cucumbers (Dosakaya), red chilli powder, mustard seeds, a hint of tamarind, and gingelly oil — it’s spicy, tangy, and full of that unmistakable traditional flavor.
In the old days, we made it fresh during the harvest season — cutting the cucumbers into perfect pieces and mixing them with hand-ground spices. The aroma of mustard and chilli would fill the house, and everyone knew Chittamma was making her famous Dosavakaya! A spoonful with hot rice and ghee or curd rice brings back the taste of home.
