Made with fresh usirikayalu (Indian gooseberries), red chilli powder, mustard seeds, garlic, tamarind, and gingelly oil, it’s tangy, spicy, and bursting with that homely flavor.

In the old days, we used to pluck usirikayalu straight from the backyard tree, steam them gently, and mix them with hand-ground spices. The aroma of gooseberry and gingelly oil would fill the whole house! A spoonful with hot rice and ghee or curd rice was enough to brighten any meal.
